Best Paid Student Jobs

Whether you’re a school student after your first job, or a university student looking to help with living expenses, we all dream of having one of the best paid student jobs. But they can feel hard to come by, or sometimes overlooked.

I know that when I was a student only a couple years ago, I was always looking for the same type of job and wouldn’t widen my net. Which probably means I lost out on many top paying jobs over the years.

That’s why we’ve done some digging to uncover some of the best paid student jobs which are easily accessible and don’t require specific experience.
Tutoring
Pay rate: £11.50 - £30 per hour

A job type which appears in many of our top jobs, and for good reason. Tutoring is an amazing way to full up your savings pot, no matter what age you are.

You can essentially be your own boss, choosing your own schedule and it’s easy to start off as you can use the learning resources that some tutoring providers offer you. Whether you’re at university, school or college, if you have a particular subject you excel at, you can teach that at a range of different levels.

MyTutor and Superprof are two top providers of tutoring, and offer online tutoring so you don’t even have to leave the house to earn a great wage.
Children's Entertainer
Pay rate: £30 per hour

Sublime Science gives you the opportunity to earn £30 per hour-long event as a children’s entertainer, teaching science at kids parties. No previous experience is required, and all resources are provided by Sublime Science - so there’s no need to be a top science student.

With opportunities across the UK, it's a great way to earn money on the weekends.
Retail & Hospitality
Pay rate: £10.50 - £15 per hour

It’s no surprise that Retail and Hospitality are two sectors which are popular with students thanks to their flexibility as well as some top paying jobs.

Constellation has some fantastic retail & hospitality across the UK at some top venues and sports stadiums with some roles paying up to £15 an hour. You can work at some fantastic venues like Chelsea FC,Tottenham Hotspur, Cardiff City, Northampton Saints, Nottingham Forest FC, Leicester City and more.

Like Constellation, Host Staffing has some well paid hospitality jobs in London, which will also see you earn around the £15 mark.

With many roles requiring no experience, you can see why they’re so popular with students.
Summer Camp
Pay rate: £11 - £18 per hour

Summer Camps are a bit of a hidden gem in the world of student jobs. Many of the advertised jobs may not sound like they are for students, but as with all our jobs on E4S, if we advertise them it means the recruiters want students.

If you have no experience of working with children at summer camps, you could still see yourself earning around £11 per hour.

If you have some experience, even just a little bit, then some Leader or Manager roles can see you earning up to £18 per hour during half terms and summer holidays.

Whether you want to work at PGL, Ultimate Activity Camps, SuperCamps or Adrmore, there is plenty on offer by Summer Camps.
Supermarkets
Pay rate: £12 per hour

Supermarkets have long been popular with students for their flexibility, especially with short 4 hour shifts, or longer 8 hour workdays on offer to let you fit earning as much as you can around education.

And with supermarkets present in nearly every town and city, they can be especially useful for university students as you can work at the same supermarket chain at university and home.

Pay also varies depending on the job role you’re doing, as a job such as delivery drivers will earn more, but with Lidl offering highly competitive £12 for all ages, it’s a role which should be considered.

See what supermarket jobs are available near you.
Warehouse & Manual Work
Pay rate: up to £15.75 per hour

Similarly to Retail and Hospitality, warehouse jobs can be a great way to earn some money either on weekends or during the holidays on your break from school/college/university. Nexus People are a great example, as depending on your age you could earn £9.75 to £15.75, offering part time, full time or various shift patterns to suit your flexibility.

Whether you live in a town or city, then chances are there are warehouses near you who will be hiring for students to help with their fulfilment.

If you like getting hands on with work and working outside, summer is also a great time to search for festival or marquee jobs, with some paying a top salary for some flexible work.
Charity Fundraiser
Pay rate: £11 per hour

Charity Fundraising is not only a highly rewarding student job, but can help to teach you some top transferable skills to help you land a well-paying full time job further down the line.

Wesser offers charity fundraising roles across the UK with no need for previous experience, and even offers you accommodation. This means less money spent on living costs, and more money into your savings account.
Freelancing
Pay rate: £10 - £30+ per hour

Freelance work can open up a world of opportunities for students. If you have a skill, whether it be Excel, Photoshop, Video Editing, Writing - just about anything - then chances are there are people and businesses around the country (and world) who would pay for your services.

All you need to do is create a profile, set your rate, and then advertise what you can do. Once you get some reviews and customer feedback, you can begin to up your rates to just about anything.
