Aldi Creating 800 New Full & Part Time Supermarket Jobs This Year

German discount grocer Aldi is creating 800 new full and part time supermarket jobs this year.

A wide variety of roles will be advertised - including some apprenticeships - and all of the vacancies are set to be filled by the supermarket chain before the 2023 Christmas holidays.

Just some of the positions to be filled at Aldi include store apprentices, stock assistants, store assistants, cleaners and caretakers. There will also be some managerial roles up for grabs as Aldi opens new stores across the UK.

Aldi, now the fourth biggest supermarket chain in the UK, is planning to open an average of one new store per week in the run up to Christmas. The expansion plans will see Aldi power through the 1,000 store mark before the end of 2023.

One region set to benefit majorly from the recruitment drive is Lancashire where 185 vacancies are forecast to be advertised; almost a quarter of all the new jobs which Aldi is hoping to fill this year.

Some of the Lancashire towns and cities where Aldi will be looking for new staff in the coming weeks include Blackpool, Carnforth, Chorley, Lancaster, Leyland, Lytham St Annes, Preston and Skelmersdale.

Announcing the jobs bonanza at the retailer, Kelly Stokes, Aldi UK’s Director of Recruitment, said: “As we continue to invest in new stores, we’re looking for hundreds more colleagues to join our incredible teams across the country.”

“Working at Aldi means a great working environment and real opportunities to progress within the business and we look forward to welcoming even more people to be a part of our success in the future,” added Ms Stokes.

Aldi currently employs around 40,000 people in full and part time jobs across its 990 stores and support operations. Even store assistants earn at least £11.40 per hour and store managers can earn a salary upwards of £60,000 per year.
