A new care home which has been given the go ahead could create as many as 100 new full and part time jobs in Somerset.

All of the vacancies will be permanent roles at the new care home in Comeytrowe, which will be located near to Wellington in Somerset.

Building work is due to start later this year and the care home will feature 68 rooms for elderly people with dementia and other specialist care needs.

Offering more details about the project and the jobs it will create after receiving the green light to move forward, the designers of the new care home, KWL Architects, told planners:

“It is intended that the proposal will provide a much-needed care facility within the local area for those with nursing and dementia care needs. At the same time, the care home will also provide full time employment opportunities for local people.”

“The facilities offered will include en-suite bedrooms with a range of excellent communal and amenity spaces incorporating a café, multi-purpose room,hairdressers, lounges, dining areas and quiet rooms.”

“All residents will benefit from communal amenity and comforting landscaped spaces, with all residents having access into the private garden spaces.”

Lawrence Turner, a director at Boyer, the planning consultants which submitted the plans, also commented, saying:

“We are delighted to have enabled the planning consent for this much needed specialist and high-quality care home accommodation.”

“In addition to exceeding sustainability requirements, the application proposal will also bring a significant boost to the local community through the creation of approximately 100 permanent jobs,” added Mr Turner.
