Morrisons Creates 1,000 Jobs To Fulfil Amazon Orders

Morrisons is creating 1,000 new customer assistant ‘pick and pack’ jobs to fulfil Amazon Prime orders from their stores.

The supermarket chain, which partnered up with Amazon in 2017, said the new roles will be available at more than 50 of its UK stores. They added that all of the new positions will be permanent.

The news follows shortly after Morrisons announced it was creating 2,000 cleaning jobs in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The recruitment drive will allow Morrisons to deliver food products ordered via the Amazon website to shoppers within as small a time frame as just 30 minutes to two hours.

At the time the partnership between Morrisons and Amazon was confirmed three years ago, Doug Gurr, global vice-president and head at Amazon UK, said: “The launch of Morrisons on Amazon means increased visibility for Morrisons’ incredible service and selection, as well as an even greater choice for our customers.”

Announcing the hundreds of new jobs in a new recruitment drive across the UK, Morrisons’ head at Amazon, Hannah Horsfall, said: “At Morrisons, we’re doing everything we can to ensure everyone can order our great value food and have it delivered to their doorstep. We’re looking for team players, with good customer service skills that can play their full part in helping to feed the nation.”

As well as creating hundreds of UK jobs which could be a great option for students looking for work during the pandemic, Morrisons has also launched a brand new service to provide food boxes to university students who are isolating because of COVID-19.
