Delivery Firm Evri Creating 5,000 New Jobs Before Christmas

Evri, the delivery firm formerly known as Hermes, has announced plans to create 5,000 new full time, part time and temporary jobs before Christmas 2023.

The company has already hired around 5,000 new staff so far this year but has plans to recruit the same number of employees throughout the rest of 2023.

Just some of the roles up for grabs at Evri as they build up their headcount before the busy Xmas rush include van drivers, customer service staff, warehouse operatives, supervisors and delivery couriers.

One area set to benefit from the recruitment drive at Evri is the North West of England. Around 600 jobs are set to be filled in the region, with most vacancies to be advertised in Manchester, Warrington and Bolton.

Bolton alone should have more than 320 courier roles on offer, whilst Manchester looks to have over 250 similar roles to be filled.

Announcing the hiring spree, Martijn de Lange, Evri’s Chief Executive Officer: “Ahead of the busy festive period, we are about to embark on the biggest recruitment programme in our history.”

“This follows another significant year of growth, supported by continued growth from online retailing, including marketplaces and pre-loved sites, as customers increasingly look to buy and sell second-hand products,” added the CEO.

Evri’s Director of Couriers and Final Mile, Gary Robinson, also commented, saying: “We’ve made it easy to submit an application, attend an introductory call with the local Community Delivery Manager and then begin training. We’ve seen couriers start at Christmas time and they’re still enjoying delivering for Evri 20 years later.”

Evri makes use of over 30,000 self employed couriers to help them deliver to over 12 million people every week.

If you are interested in working for the firm then here’s a bit of advice from the Evri careers website as to what they look for in potential employees:

“Our amazing team of parcel people have one thing in common – putting our customers first. Whether you can code, project manage, drive, work in operations, are a financial wizard or can really fix a problem our common goal is to work together to ensure every parcel is in the right place at the right time, keeping our customers happy. If this is you we would love you to join our team.”
