Educational and recreation specialist SportsCool is set to more than double its headcount by creating over 150 new activity jobs across the United Kingdom in the next year.

The company, based in North West’s Blackburn, currently employs just 100 members of staff - but the firm’s director says they will boost their numbers to around 250 employees before the end of 2023.

Working from just short of 30 sports centres at the moment, SportsCool has plans to expand to more and more locations nationwide in a bid to get more young people gaining both new skills - and newfound confidence - by taking part in sport and other activities.

In the summer of 2022, SportsCool hosted around 10,000 youngsters and hopes to boost those numbers going forward. In order to do so, the company will need between 100 to 200 new activity instructors and other staff to help them achieve their aims.

Announcing the expansion plans, Lee Lysons, the director of SportsCool, said:

“At SportsCool we believe that sports education is fundamental to a child’s development, and we work with primary schools to that end. We’re seeing increasing interest in the sessions that SportsCool’s coaches deliver and each new operation we open is making a real difference locally.”

“Our expansion plans for the next twelve months will see us looking to get established in communities across the country.”

“The central theme to our work is that every child should have the chance to participate, progress and achieve. This in turn has a profound effect on self-esteem, confidence, motivation and physical aptitude, along with all-round mental and physical health. It’s a message we continue to deliver across the country, alongside our innovative, fun sessions.”
