Applications are now open for some fantastic jobs with ‘Food & Drink at Wimbledon’ for The Championships 2023.

The annual tennis extravaganza is taking place from Monday the 1st July to Sunday 16th July and there are over 3,000 hospitality, catering and managerial roles on offer this year.

However, if you would like to work at The Championships 2023 then you need to act quickly since applications for these much-in-demand vacancies close at the end of January. That’s only just over two weeks away!

Work is available before, during and after the Championships, with some pre-event positions starting as early as 2nd May.

Similarly, if you are available after the Championships have finished, you could be working on Breakdown shifts at Wimbledon as late as the end of July.

All in all, if you successfully apply for the right roles, you could be working for up to three months in an environment which will gain you great experience and look fantastic on your CV.

And, one of the great things about landing a job this year is that you will then get priority returner status to work again at The Championships 2024 next summer.

Entry level positions available at the Championships 2023 pay at least £11.95 per hour and include roles within these functions:

- Kitchen Support (eg. Food Production, Kitchen Porter)

- Retail Catering (eg. Cashier, Catering Assistant)

- Stores, Beverage & Logistics (eg. Celler Porter, Store Porter)

- Hospitality (eg. Barista, Bartender, Butler, Cocktail Bar Staff, Host/Hostess, Waiting Staff)

There are also some managerial roles and vacancies for chefs up for grabs too.

Over the course of the Wimbledon fortnight, around half a million guests can visit the famous tennis courts of SW19. That amounts to more than 40,000 visitors at any one time!

With so many guests to cater for, managers in charge of the food and drink team at The Championships fully agree that their staff are what make their hospitality services run so smoothly at the annual event.

Jon Davies, the Managing Director for Levy UK which hires staff for the tournament, said: “The Championships are a truly special event in the sporting calendar and we are proud to be part of the magic that happens in SW19 every year. The key ingredient in making it so special is having amazing people working across the event, both front and back of house, to deliver exceptional, first-class service to our guests.”

The Operations Director for Food & Drink at Wimbledon, Charlie Cook, agreed, saying: “Our people are our greatest asset. I believe in choosing people who have huge potential and developing them.”

One team member who was a part of the food and drinks staff at Wimbledon a few years ago described the experience in these enthusiastic terms:

“Working at the Championships was fantastic! Working in such a fast paced and engaging environment was challenging but also incredibly rewarding. The atmosphere was always lively and the people were wonderful.”

To be eligible to work at the Championships 2023 you must be 18 years old by the 1st July 2023. You will also have to be available to attend two mandatory training days on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd July, the weekend immediately prior to the start of the tournament.
