Home Bargains is set to open a new store in Ashington, creating dozens of new full and part time jobs in Northumberland.

The retail chain has invested around £3.5 million in the new 1,600 square metre store and will create around 50 vacancies at the new Ashington branch, located at Portland Park.

Announcing the launch of the new outlet, the store manager for the new Ashington branch of Home Bargains, Glenn Raynor, said: “We are delighted to be opening this new store in Portland Park, Ashington, and creating so many jobs in the local community.”

“The team has been working hard to ensure that everything is ready for opening day. We would love to make this store the best in the business. Ashington will be a great location for us and we’re proud to be able to offer local people top-branded goods at exceptionally low prices,” added Mr Raynor.

Since launching their first store in 1976, Home Bargains has grown to become a retail chain of more than 550 stores and is one of the biggest privately-owned companies in the UK. The company continues to expand, launching an average of 50 new stores each.
