Tesco Creates 200 New Customer Service Jobs In Dundee

A multi-million pound refurbishment of Tesco’s UK Customer Engagement Centre (CEC) has created 200 new jobs in Dundee.

The revamp of Tesco’s Dundee CEC features improved catering facilities, better working stations and a gym for employees will be installed in 2019.

As well as creating 200 completely new jobs for Dundee, Tesco has also transitioned a further staff in the city from temporary contracts on to permanent positions at their Baird Avenue base in the Scottish city.

In total, there will now be 1,500 members of staff working at the Dundee Customer Engagement Centre for Tesco.

The Dundee employees deal with all aspects of customer service for Tesco, including taking phone calls and responding to emails and social media postings. In total they deal with around nine million enquiries every year.

Speaking at the official reopening of the improved facility, Jason Tarry, Tesco UK & Ireland’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “Our Dundee Customer Engagement Centre colleagues do a fantastic job helping customers right across the UK. As we prepare for Christmas, we are committed to serving shoppers a little better every day and Dundee is right at the heart of this.”

Welcoming the announcement, the Minister for Public Finance & Digital Economy for the Scottish Government, Kate Forbes MSP, said: “Scotland’s economy needs a vibrant and successful retail sector and this investment in Dundee is very welcome news. Tesco is a significant employer in Scotland and I am delighted they have chosen Dundee for their UK Customer Engagement Centre.”
