Boris Johnson Pledges 200,000 London Jobs The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, has pledged that 200,000 full and part time London jobs will be created if he is re-elected in 6 weeks’ time.

Mr Johnson alleged that Ken Livingstone, his labour opponent in the Mayoral elections, would expose London’s economy to risks if he were to be elected in May.

Speaking in Bexley, Mr Johnson said that jobs were the most important thing to Londoners at the moment.

Explaining how he planned to add thousands of full and part time jobs to the London economy, Mr Johnson said: “Through working hard to cut waste in the Greater London Authority, freeing up £3.5 billion for services and securing a better deal for London from Number 10, we will directly create 200,000 jobs for Londoners. We will deliver this by investing. Investing in transport infrastructure, local high streets, house building and a true Olympic legacy.”

Crossrail, improvements to the Tube and other transport projects could create over 30,000 London jobs and new housing powers won from the government would enable them to add a further 100,000 jobs.

Thousands more jobs would be created following the Olympic Games and a scheme to get people back into work by created more part time jobs in London, said the Mayor.

Rival candidate and former Mayor, Mr Livingstone, challenged Mr Johnson’s record, however, saying that employment levels in London were actually falling.

There are already thousands of part time jobs in London and most of them are suitable for students and young people just like you. Why not earn some money and get some work experience in the capital by applying for any current London Part Time Jobs that we are advertising?
