Avon & Somerset Constabulary Student Jobs

23 Mar 2010

Avon & Somerset Constabulary Student Jobs Avon & Somerset Police had an overwhelming response to their recruitment drive to fill 64 student jobs in the force yesterday (Monday 22 March).

They were looking for up to 1,100 people to apply for the new student roles and they planned to open a hotline for 12 hours so students could register their interest. The lines were only open for 8 hours though – and by 3 o’clock in the afternoon all 1,100 application packs were in the post to the eager applicants.

One student on holiday in Australia even took time out to get in touch with the Avon and Somerset Constabulary.

Emma Zeeman, head of Personnel at the force said that it was fantastic that so many people were keen to fill the student jobs and that they had been “overwhelmed by the interest."

Avon & Somerset police are currently conducting a two-year recruitment drive. The new student positions were allocated following a public consultation which showed that constituents of Avon & Somerset were willing to pay more council tax if front-line policing could be kept at the same level or even increased.

The recruitment drive comes at a time when over half of other constabularies are putting recruitment on hold, or even reducing numbers.

The successful applicants who will eventually fill the 64 new student jobs will start their training in the force in September this year.

If you were not lucky enough to get through to Avon & Somerset police yesterday then don’t despair! We have lots of other student jobs for you to apply for on the E4S website. For example, take a look at some of our very latest summer jobs for students on our Student Summer Jobs page.
