Beaverbrooks is a British chain of jewellery stores which has been a feature of the UK high street for around a hundred years. They have more than 60 stores in various locations and employ over 850 staff in full and part time retail roles.
Beaverbrooks is a regular feature in the Sunday Times ‘100 Best Companies to Work For’ list, making the Top 10 in most years, and even topping the list in 2009.
Beaverbrooks started out just after the First World War in May 1919 as a family run business and has kept close to its roots over the decades since its inception. The jewellery firm was originally run by three brothers - Harry, Isaac and Maurice Adlestone - who left England to sell their goods on the streets of Belfast, Northern Ireland. After opening their first store in Belfast a few years later, they replicated the model back in England, with North West outlets in Blackpool and Manchester.
There are now dozens of retail branches of Beaverbrooks spread out around England and Scotland, and you can check out if there is one which might be hiring in your town or city by sticking your postcode into their store locator, which you can find here.
If there is a Beaverbrooks The Jewellers near to where you live then you could find term time work or holiday vacancies as full or part time retail sales consultants, customer service coordinators or even within the management team of your local store.
Offering a glimpse into the world of retail work at Beaverbrooks, one of their Manchester customer consultants, James Hoxworth, explains:
“My day to day activities are well balanced; I enjoy developing relationships with every customer that walks through our door, helping them to find the right product they need for their special occasion. Replenishing stock for the windows to cleaning the very items we sell, working in a Beaverbrooks store keeps you entertained from start to finish! If you want a career that is both rewarding and challenging with an atmosphere that is unmatchable on the high street, Beaverbrooks is the place to succeed!”
And, highlighting your chances to progress within the Beaverbrooks business, Mr Hoxworth added, “In my second year I have already been rewarded for my hard work with a promotion and I have attained a place on the company's management development program. It’s fair to say I am still enjoying life beyond expectancy in my new job role!”
If you’re based anywhere near Lytham St. Annes in Lancashire then you could also look into the options available at Beaverbrooks’ head office in the North West. A range of support roles will be on offer at the Lytham St. Annes site, so you could find work in finance, IT, HR and other areas at the head office of Beaverbrooks.
There are a couple of recent social media updates from Beaverbrooks towards the right side of this page - the Twitter account in particular could be useful if you fancy working for the jeweller as it’s dedicated to their jobs rather than their sales operation. You’ll find out even more information about their retail jobs on their careers site from where you can apply for live vacancies.
