easyJet Creating 130 New Full & Part Time Jobs In Southend

Discount airline easyJet has announced plans to create 130 new full or part time jobs in Southend.

easyJet, the largest leisure airline in the UK, is continuing its expansion with a new base at London Southend Airport.

The development will create approximately 130 new direct jobs for pilots and crew, along with numerous indirect job opportunities, making it an excellent prospect for UK students seeking employment in the aviation industry.

The new base at Southend Airport, scheduled to open some time in March next year, will further strengthen easyJet's presence across the UK, where it already employs over 10,000 members of staff in full and part time roles..

With ten bases across England, Scotland & Northern Ireland (Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester, London Gatwick, London Luton & London Southend), easyJet is well-positioned to offer a wide range of career paths and opportunities for aspiring students.

The expansion at Southend Airport will introduce new flight routes to popular destinations including Antalya (Turkey), Dalaman (Turkey), Enfidha (Tunisia), Gran Canaria (Spain), Marrakech (Morocco) and Pisa (Italy).

These new routes will not only boost travel options for easyJet customers but also create a wide range of job opportunities within the airline's operations, ground crew and customer service teams.

easyJet's commitment to growth can be seen in its plans to operate more UK flights than ever before in the summer of 2024. The airline forecasts that it will have 57 million seats and 70 new routes available this year.

The uptick in activity shows the airline's dedication to meeting the increasing demand for affordable travel options, whilst also providing ample opportunities for students looking to enter the workforce.

Announcing the expansion plans, the Chief Executive Officer of easyJet, Johan Lundgren said: “We are delighted to be announcing another three-aircraft base in the UK, at London Southend Airport. This will create hundreds of jobs and provide more choice for consumers with new routes and package holidays.”

“Our continued growth and investment in the UK highlights the importance of the market where this year we will operate more flying than ever before with our customers choosing our flights and holidays because of our trusted brand, unrivalled network and great value fares,” added the CEO.
