Octopus Energy Creating 200 New Full Or Part Time UK Jobs In Coventry

Octopus Energy has announced recruitment plans for 200 new full or part time UK vacancies in Coventry.

The energy firm already has a strong presence in the area, with around 700 employees working in Coventry and nearby Leicester.

Now, Octopus has opened new offices in Coventry’s Two Friargate building and is particularly keen to recruit graduates from the local university.

Announcing the new jobs, Greg Jackson, the Chief Executive Officer of Octopus Energy, said:

“There is so much talent locally and so much enthusiasm that we need somewhere we can really double down on our investment and we want to build a big presence here. We currently have 200 open roles right here in Coventry but I think we will be growing to 600 over the next year or two across a wide range of skills and roles so it is really exciting.”

“People like to be together and I think they can do a better job as they have people around to mentor you and coach you and you have got the social support that makes such a difference at work.”

“You can feel the buzz among the team and I think it is exciting for people to be part of a company that is growing in a region that is investing for growth. I think we can be grateful that the city and the region have invested in the developments that mean companies like ours can now move in.”

“We are now going to be able to really build. As long as we get the right deal, we intend to take another four floors in this building,” added the CEO.

West Midlands’ Mayor, Andy Street, welcomed the announcement, saying: “It is the start of a much bigger journey. When I hear Greg talk about all the future jobs that are coming it is genuinely exciting to have you here. It is the start of a brilliant partnership between Coventry, the West Midlands and Octopus.”

Focusing on Octopus Energy’s future plans to take on more office space in the Two Friargate building, Coventry City Council’s Jim O'Boyle, said: “I feel very confident that we will land those extra four floors and, of course, we will do a fantastic deal because this is part of making sure that everyone gets the best out of our city.”

“It is a really proud day for Octopus moving here to this fine building, but it is also a really proud day for Coventry because we have invested to bring jobs to our area that make a difference for the economic opportunities for the people that work here, who live here and visit here,” said the councillor.
