BT Group Creating Over 500 New Opportunities For Graduates & Apprentices

Telecoms giant BT Group has announced plans to create over 500 new opportunities for graduates and apprentices in 2024.

The broadband company - which services more than 180 countries worldwide - has 557 early careers vacancies on offer this year, with 4 in 5 of the positions earmarked as apprenticeships.

The new recruits will start working for BT in September this year and apprentices can study towards apprenticeships from the equivalent to GCSE standard (level 2), right up to a Master’s degree (level 7).

BT only hired around 400 apprentices and graduates last year, so they are upping their intake from the demographic by almost 40 per cent in 2024.

On average, over the past five years, the Group has recruited an average of 600 apprentices and graduates every year since 2018.

For 2024, the BT Group is looking to fill 111 graduate roles and 446 apprenticeship vacancies.

Roles on offer across BT and its other entities - such as EE, Plusnet and Openreach - include positions within applied research, customer service, cyber-security, data analytics and engineering.

The England vacancies at BT are set to be filled in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Darlington, Ipswich, Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield and Warrington. There are also vacancies for graduates and apprentices in Belfast and Cardiff.

Kickstarting the recruitment drive for fresh young talent, the Director of Colleague Experience at BT Group, Elaine Bergin, said:

“As one of the largest private sector employers of apprentices and graduates in the UK, we continue to recruit and attract brilliant people into our business and we offer unparalleled opportunities to those who join us.”

“As we build a better BT Group, we’re developing a pipeline of future talent to help grow our business, deliver great outcomes for our customers and to help underpin economic growth in the UK,” added Ms Bergin.
