Wrightbus Creating 360 New Jobs & Apprenticeships In Northern Ireland

Hydrogen and electric bus manufacturer Wrightbus is creating over 360 new full or part time jobs and apprenticeships in Northern Ireland.

The Ballymena-based bus specialist will have around 50 opportunities for apprentices, along with 100 production roles and 210 jobs in its support functions.

Wrightbus is set to host a recruitment event next month so that interested candidates can find out more about the roles and apply for vacancies on the evening of Thursday 21st September (2023).

The company already employs around 1,200 members of staff in Northern Ireland but the new recruitment drive will see Wrightbus swell its ranks by a further 30 per cent to over 1,560 employees.

Launching the recruitment drive in Ballymena, the Director of Human Resources at Wrightbus, Nicola McCloskey, said: “As the business continues to grow, we are on the lookout for talented individuals to join us in our journey to create even more sustainable, environmentally-friendly transport around the world.”

“There has never been a more exciting time to join this industry to begin or develop your career. We have a variety of roles available as we continue to build a better, more diverse and inclusive workplace for all our employees.”

“Factories are often associated with being dark and dirty places where the work is repetitive, but today’s manufacturing environment couldn’t be more different from this misconception. Our plant is a bright, spacious place where staff are encouraged to innovate and improve to help us shape the future of such an important industry,” added Ms McCloskey.

Giving some detail about the sorts of apprenticeships which will be on offer, the Wrightbus website says:

“The Wrightbus Apprenticeship Programme allows you to earn and develop your skills alongside completing a formal recognised qualification.  We currently offer Level 3 pathways for Coachbuilding, Driveline Operative, Spray Painting, Vehicle Installation Electrician, Warranty Engineer and Welding.  We also offer a Level 5 pathway within the occupational areas of Engineering and Supply Chain & Logistics.”
