British variety store chain Home Bargains is creating over 100 new full or part time jobs in Swindon.

The Liverpool-based homeware, food and health & beauty retailer is opening one of its biggest stores to date off Great Western Way in the Wiltshire town.

The latest 3,700 square metre venture will come at an investment of around £4.5 million for Home Bargains.

The store will create 110 new vacancies and a further 20 current employees will transfer from existing Home Bargains’ stores in the area to the new one in Swindon.

Home Bargains is expanding quickly, averaging just short of one news store per week in recent times. Currently the chain has around 575 stores but hopes to boost that number to 800 locations in the next few years.

If the firm keeps up its current rate of expansion, Home Bargains should move from a headcount of 28,500 employees to more than 35,000 members of staff before the end of 2028.

Announcing the new venture and the vacancies it is creating in Swindon, Yulia Garbatiuk, the manager of the store said: “We are looking forward to opening one of the biggest Home Bargains units in the company here in Swindon. We can’t wait to show the people of Swindon our new store with a Café, Bakery and Garden Centre all at low prices, representing value for money.”

“We are excited to say that we have managed to build a new team of 130 colleagues providing important jobs in the community at a difficult time,” added Ms Garbatiuk.
