Omnicom, the American media group based in Delaware, is creating around 170 new full and part time jobs in Newcastle.

All of the media roles, which include apprenticeships as well as managerial roles, are set to be filled by the firm before the end of 2026.

Omnicom also says it wants to work with colleges and universities in Newcastle to source new recruits from the city’s talent pool and open up opportunities for graduates.

Announcing the expansion plans at his firm, the Chief Executive Officer of Omnicom, Dan Clays, said: “We have seen high growth as a business across media, content and commerce services. And the launch in Newcastle is a key part of our strategy to continue that momentum.”

“The launch reflects a growing desire amongst our clients that we draw on talent from across the UK and our own commitment to ensuring our talent is truly representative.”

“The North-East and the city of Newcastle is an incredibly exciting place for us to access brilliant talent, and we look forward to creating career opportunities in media and marketing services in the months and years ahead,” added Mr Clays.

The Digital & Tech head of Invest Newcastle, Dawn Dunn, also commented, saying:

Jamie Driscoll, the North of Tyne’s Metro Mayor, welcomed the announcement, saying:

“This is music to my ears. I’m pleased that we’ve been able to support OMG creating up to 170 jobs, at all levels, for local residents. Last year, we were the number one region in the country for inward investment job creation. And companies like Omnicom get it.”
