Severn Trent Water Creating 130 Apprenticeships & Over 850 New Jobs

Severn Trent Water has announced plans to create 130 apprenticeships and over 850 new jobs across the Midlands and mid-Wales.

The water company, based in Coventry, is hoping to fill the almost-1,000 vacancies in the next two years but will be looking to hire all of the 130 apprentices during the remainder of 2023.

If they fulfil their wish to fill all of the available apprenticeships this year then it will be a record intake of apprentices for Severn Trent Water.

In addition to the 130 apprenticeships, Severn Trent is also looking to fill around 65 graduate roles and 60 summer internships. They will also advertise around a further 750 roles over before the end of 2025 and we’ll bring you more details on those opportunities whenever we have them.

Announcing hundreds of new vacancies at Severn Trent, Liv Garfield, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “At a time when unemployment rates in our region are increasing and the cost of living crisis is still front and centre of many customers’ minds, we are proud to be able to create 1,000 jobs in our region over the next couple of years and to further help up to 50,000 customers with financial support.”

“Creating job opportunities, continuing significant regional investment and financially supporting more customers than ever before is made possible by the strong results we have delivered this year.”

“This, coupled with our long-term programme to help people into work, go towards truly supporting the communities we serve.”

“This support is being delivered whilst continuing with the multi-billion pound investment in the region to improve water and waste services, providing an exceptional service and investing in our people who go above and beyond every day to make a positive impact in our region.”

“We are expecting the biggest investment period the sector has ever seen - with a focus on water resources, improving environmental standards and on Net Zero. And we feel more than ready for this exciting opportunity ahead of us,” added the CEO.

Severn Trent Water employs over 7,000 people across the Midlands and Wales. You can find out more about all of their apprenticeships, graduate programmes and internships by visiting the Severn Trent Careers site here.
