Background:
Led by racing legend Michael Andretti, the team fields multiple entries in INDYCAR, INDY NXT, IMSA and Formula E. The global racing enterprise boasts over 250 race wins, four INDYCAR Series championships, five INDY NXT titles, one Indy Pro 2000 and one USF2000 championship, and has captured victory five times at the famed Indianapolis 500-Mile Race. The team is now looking to expand into the pinnacle of motorsport through our Andretti Cadillac Team. 

Job description:
We have an opportunity for a Graduate Aerodynamics Test Engineer to join the Andretti Cadillac Team at the new Silverstone Facility. In this role you will work with a group of aerodynamics engineers responsible for preparing, supervising, and executing aerodynamic wind tunnel test program's, to support the design and development of the aerodynamic performance of the team’s race cars. Principal Accountabilities:

  • Primary activity to support the delivery of wind tunnel experimental testing activities.
  • Organisation and preparation of test documentation, including run lists, model specifications, test instrumentation equipment.
  • Assisting the day-to-day running of the wind tunnel program.
  • Data analysis and reporting of wind tunnel test results, and correlation to CFD results.
  • Suggest and investigate new methods and processes to improve testing efficiency.
  • Secondary activity to support the delivery of aerodynamic performance to the race car, by analysing CFD and wind tunnel data as well as innovating throughout the design and development process. 
  • Build an understanding of the aerodynamic structures and behaviors around the race car.
  • Contribute to collaborative discussions and efforts to improve whole-car performance, offering ideas and taking on board feedback from others.
  • Propose and support software and tool development to improve wind tunnel testing techniques, analysis and efficiency.
  • Communicate key findings to the Lead Engineer and Aerodynamics department stakeholders.
  • You will be required to travel as part of this role on a regular basis.

Requirements

  • A degree in a relevant discipline (Aerodynamics/Aeronautics) or similar.  
  • Completed your degree within the past 12 months, or you are scheduled to complete it within the next 12 months. 
  • Experience of experimental wind tunnel testing and data analysis . 
  • Some knowledge of CFD and 3D CAD software (preferably 3DExperience/CATIA).  
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.  
  • Able to perform duties in a timely manner with minimal errors.  
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues.  
  • Clear and concise communication, verbally and with the use of email.  
  • Strong levels of IT skills including MS Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  
  • Positively contribute to an open and inclusive culture.
