Graduate Veterinary Surgeon - West MidlandsSalary of £35,000 per annumFlexible CPD allowance of £2,000 and 5 days per annum1 paid volunteering day per annumPrivate health insurancePurovets are seeking a summer 2024 graduate veterinary surgeon to join an RCVS-accredited independent practice based in Coventry. The practice recently underwent a refurbishment and extension, so it is a really exciting time to join. There is a new dedicated space for ultrasound (abdominal and echo), digital X-Ray (CR), a dental suite (including dental X-Ray), a third feline theatre, separate cat, dog and isolation wards and a room set aside for a future CT scanner. There is even a staff pet kennel area! They are a veterinary nurse training, Gold Cat Friendly and RCVS-accredited practice, making this a fantastic place to start your career. The team of 15 vets includes several Certificate holders with a wealth of experience, covering imaging, surgery, medicine, dermatology, feline practice and ECC, giving you the opportunity to learn and develop your skills further. All of their vets, whether recent graduates or 30 years qualified, receive support tailored to their needs, with practical in-house scanning sessions, theatre scrub-ins, monthly clinical club discussion groups, and regular one-to-one catch-ups. New graduates have a designated VetGDP Adviser for the day-to-day. You will also have access to the well-regarded XLVets Graduate Development Programme, which provides structured clinical and non-clinical modules, along with social events throughout the year, offering lots of opportunities to meet up with colleagues working at other forward-thinking independent practices.This is a 5-day-a-week full-time role for 41 hours a week; there is no night work, as they have used a local out-of-hours provider for 20 years. Late evening and weekend shifts are shared fairly across the team, and an experienced colleague is always rota-ed alongside new/recent graduates to provide hands-on support. You will have a Friday off after working a Saturday shift.You will be working in Coventry, a historic city in central England which embodies a rich tapestry of culture, renowned for its medieval cathedral ruins juxtaposed with modern architecture. The city thrives with diverse communities, a vibrant arts scene, and a legacy of innovation in industry and design. Coventry boasts robust travel connections, facilitating easy access across the UK.
