Based in Cheltenham, but with offices in Burnley too, Endsleigh is probably most famous for specialising in insurance for students, graduates and professionals. Endsleigh is officially approved as an insurer by The National Union of Students, and they offer a range of insurance products such as car cover, house insurance and student travel insurance to young people all over the UK.

However, they don’t just offer insurance cover for students, they also hire them into their own company on a very regular basis. So, what would you think about working for a student-focused company like Endsleigh Insurance?

Endsleigh was the 1965 brain-child of Michael Jeremy Naylor, a former Nottingham University student, who, along with the NUS, set up the firm with headquarters in London. By 1970, it had relocated to its current main base of Cheltenham, and, by 2007, Endsleigh was acquired by Zurich Financial Service, which is still the parent company of the insurer today.

Endsleigh Insurance no longer has its network of local branches throughout the UK, so, if you want to work for the company, you’ll need to live in, or be able to commute to, either Cheltenham or Burnley, the firm’s two bases.

Burnley is an all out sales centre for Endsleigh, so you’ll need to have an interest in that line of work to be able to land a job with the company in Lancashire. Cheltenham is also a sales engine for Endsleigh, but there are also many support roles at the company’s headquarters in Gloucestershire, so students and graduates can find work within departments such as IT, Finance, Underwriting, Human Resources, Marketing, Business Development or Service & Claims.

Endsleigh Insurance has three main routes into their business for students, graduates and other young people. Depending on where you’re at in your education and/or work experience background, Endsleigh Insurance offer the following Talent Development Programmes: the Graduate Development Programme, the Apprenticeship Programme and the Work Experience Programme.

The Endsleigh graduate scheme starts in September and runs for two years. All places on the scheme are based at the Cheltenham offices. Starting salaries for graduates at Endsleigh Insurance tend to be somewhere around the £25,000 mark.
