Aspro-Ocio is a Spanish company that is commonly referred to as our parent company. Aspro is the third largest visitor attraction operator in Europe, and a fast growing company that operates over 30 leisure attractions in Spain, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Finland and the UK.

In the UK, Aspro comprises Deep Sea Leisure plc and Oakwood Leisure Limited. These 2 companies operate over 3 brands, and 9 sites.

Deep Sea Leisure PLC

Deep Sea Leisure plc is the UK leader in developing and running world class aquariums. The Company operates Blue Planet Aquarium in Cheshire, one of the largest aquariums in Europe, and Deep Sea World, Scotland’s National Aquarium. Deep Sea Leisure are pioneers and market leaders in the ‘Discover Scuba’ and ‘Shark Encounter’ markets.

In 2008 Deep Sea Leisure bought Blue Reef Leisure Limited, bringing further growth to the group. Blue Reef operates aquaria in Hastings, Newquay, Portsmouth and Tynemouth, and the Smugglers Adventure attraction in Hastings. Deep Sea Leisure including Blue Reef employs well over 250 people during summer season and has an annual turnover of over £9.5 million.

Oakwood Leisure Ltd

In 2008 Aspro-Ocio acquired Oakwood Leisure Ltd, which operates Oakwood Theme Park in Pembrokeshire. Oakwood is regarded as one of the top ten UK theme parks and is Wales’ top paid-for visitor attraction with 400,000 visitors each year. The park boasts world-class rides and attractions including the famous wooden roller coaster Megafobia, recently voted the best ride in the UK and the third best ride in the World by enthusiasts. Oakwood’s most recent addition, Speed, introduced the first beyond vertical drop to the UK and attracted roller coaster clubs from all over the UK, Europe and America keen to try it.

The two companies form the Aspro group in the UK. Aspro is one of the most dynamic companies in the leisure industry and is committed to growing our businesses and creating opportunities for our people.
