Technology Firm Set To Create 150 Full Or Part Tİme Jobs In Newcastle

London-based tech firm Scrumconnect Consulting is set to create around 150 new full or part time jobs in Newcastle.

The tech company has announced plans for a new city centre office at Newcastle’s Portland House and has also pledged investment of £40 million in the North East city.

The software consultant works with many of the UK Government’s departments including the DWP, Ministry of Justice, HM Prison & Probation Service and the Department for Environment Food & Rural Affairs.

The Newcastle recruitment drive is part of a wider hiring plan which will see Scrumconnect Consulting create 700 new jobs in the next four years, with around 350 of the vacancies to be based in the North.

Announcing the development, Scrumconnect Consulting’s Chief Executive Officer, Praveen Karadiguddi, said: “Our £40 million investment and expansion into Newcastle is a strategic move that reflects our growing partnerships with government departments like HMRC in the North East. Our increasing portfolio of contracts in the region highlights the synergy between our services and the government’s evolving needs.”

“The North East is on the cusp of devolution in May 2024 and it’s seen an injection of investment through the Levelling Up Fund. Our commitment is not just about expanding our footprint; it will help to foster economic growth, create jobs and contribute to the region’s vibrant future.”

“Today, Scrumconnect Consulting is making a significant impact on the daily lives of more than 50 million UK citizens; from digitally processing court cases and every new passport application or renewal to preventing benefit fraud and managing state pension details,” added the CEO.

The Labour MP for Newcastle-upon-Tyne Central, Chi Onwurah, welcomed the news, saying: “Newcastle’s great industrial past was my inspiration to become an engineer, and I believe digital technologies will play a significant role in the future prosperity of the region. Attracting companies like Scrumconnect Consulting to the North East is an important part of that future prosperity.”

“By providing jobs, investment and expertise to Newcastle, Scrumconnect Consulting will help the city deliver on its potential to be a digital powerhouse,” said Ms Onwurah.
