Loungers Creating 1,000 New Hospitality Jobs In 2024

Loungers plc, the firm behind cafe, bar and restaurant chains Lounge, Cosy Club and Brightside, is creating 1,000 new catering and hospitality jobs in 2024.

Loungers, famous for serving neighbourhoods outside of city centres on an all-day basis, has over 240 branches across its three brands and creates dozens of vacancies with each new venture.

The company has already opened 30 new venues in England and Wales this year and plans to expand at the same rate next year.

With over 30 jobs to be filled with each new launch, the chain is on track to create 1,000 jobs this year and expects to match the feat in 2024 too.

Launched in 2002, Lounge now has 206 venues, whilst Cosy Club - established eight years later - has 36 branches.

Eventually, Loungers has long term ambitions to have over 600 branches of Lounge and more than 60 Cosy Clubs.

The newest brand in the Loungers’ stable, Brightside Roadside Dining, launched just last year and already has three restaurants in Exeter, Saltash and Honiton.

Loungers is a champion of getting young people into its workplace, with around 1 in 3 members of staff being under the age of 22. With a total headcount in excess of 8,400 employees, that amounts to around 2,800 young people on the payroll of Loungers.

The Chief Executive Officer of Loungers, Nick Collins, said: “We are proud of the positive impact that our Lounges have on the local community. Each new Lounge creates 30 new jobs on average, and each opening typically represents an investment of up to £1m into the local high street.”

“And apart from the employment opportunities, there’s a wonderful halo effect created by having a vibrant, friendly, community-hub at the centre of a high street. The increased footfall is great for all of the other local businesses and typically leads to other enterprises coming to the area too.”

“Our Lounges are extremely versatile and work as well in purpose-built, mixed-use retail and leisure parks as they do in historic buildings on high streets. This gives us a huge amount of choice when assessing new sites, as we’re not tied to any one kind of environment or type of location,” added the CEO.

Explaining why you might want to join their ranks, the Loungers’ website says:

“We’re growing rapidly so have an abundance of opportunities available, and pride ourselves in being the kind of place where a job naturally turns into a career. We love to nurture and grow as a company, and we do the same with our staff. It’s really up to you how far you go!”
