Matalan, the discount retailer with headquarters in the North West town of Skelmersdale, will be advertising 2,300 Christmas jobs this year according to their Retail Director, Mike Jeans.

With over 200 outlets in the United Kingdom, Matalan will be taking on an average of an extra eleven full or part time workers at each store during Christmas 2011. The majority of the jobs available will be for sales assistants at regional Matalan shops.

Speaking of the news of the Christmas jobs on offer this year, Mr Jeans said: “We are pleased to be announcing the creation of 2,300 jobs throughout the country during the Christmas period.”

“We are looking for sales assistants who focus on making sure every potential Christmas present is on the sales floor, who love to work in a busy environment, but above all else, those who strive to keep our customers smiling. We are looking forward to welcoming new colleagues to help Matalan grow,” explained Mr Jeans.
