Royal Mail is again hiring thousands of extra temporary staff to work in seasonal roles from early next month until the Christmas holidays.

The annual surge in recruitment at Royal Mail will see them hiring both full and part time staff across a number of shifts to help them deal with over 130 million packages, parcels, Christmas cards and letters.

Over 3,000 seasonal jobs are being created at nine temporary sorting offices across the UK, with a further 16,000 positions to be advertised across the whole Royal Mail operation.

Royal Mail’s Leeds parcel sorting office is set to benefit from the most vacancies with 550 temporary jobs on offer, while hundreds of other seasonal positions will be advertised in Atherstone, Bathgate, Birmingham, Coventry, Greenford, Pontyclun, Rochdale and Swindon.

In Scotland alone, the Royal Mail is creating around 1,300 Christmas jobs to help with deliveries to and from areas north of the border.

Explaining what you can look forward to with a seasonal job at Royal Mail, the company’s website says:

“A Christmas jumper, festive online shopping, a letter headed to the North Pole. There are all kinds of exciting parcels and letters to look forward to this Christmas. Joining as a Christmas temporary worker at one of our mail centres, you’ll be helping to sort these items for 29 million addresses across the UK.”

“A mix of full and part time indoor sorting positions on early, late and night shifts will be available from early November through until 23rd December at a number of sites across the UK.
