more stores in the North East, creating around a hundred full and part time retail jobs in the region over the next few months.

The retailer will open new outlets in Newcastle and Middlesbrough tomorrow (Friday 20 February 2015), adding to their existing portfolio of 30 stores. Three further new Bargain Buys stores will be added in the North East at Cramlington, Newcastle and Middlesbrough before the end of the year. With an average staffing level of 20 employees at the typical Bargain Buys store, the company should create approximately 100 retail vacancies in the North East before the end of 2015.

Bargain Buys has expanded at lightning speed since opening their first store in 2013. Just last month, the retailer opened five new stores in one day on 23 January, launching new outlets in Bradford, London, Middlesbrough, Sheffield and Stevenage.

Bargain Buys has plans to reach 70 outlets in the next few years, doubling its store presence across the UK and eventually employing more than 2,800 members of staff in retail and support roles. The expansion will see it to continue its competition with other movers and shakers in the lucrative UK discount market, such as B&M Stores.

Speaking of the flurry of new store openings last month, Chris Edwards Junior, trading director at Bargain Buys said it had been ‘a very busy but brilliant day’ for the company.

“The fact that we’ve opened five new stores in one day just goes to show how fast the brand is growing in both size and popularity – and that’s great to see. It’s our mission to bring fantastic value products to the masses and I’m happy to say that we’re well on our way to making big brands affordable for people all over the UK,” added Mr Edwards.

Manager of the new Newcastle’s Bargain Buys, Nicola Charlton, said: “We’re delighted to be opening a new store at Clayton Street and we can’t wait to see how customers respond to the new brand. We offer all your favourite brands and products for less and we’re expecting the new store to be packed full of savvy shoppers. We already have a successful store on Byker Retail Park and we hope our new store at Clayton Street will prove just as popular.”
