Manchester Science Parks (MSP) has announced plans which would see 3,750 Manchester jobs created over the next ten years.

Manchester Science Parks provides facilities for science and technology businesses of all sizes but is starting to outgrow its existing office and laboratory space. By increasing in size, MSP hopes to convince many more businesses to set up home at their facilities in the coming years, bringing thousands of jobs to Manchester.

If the plans for MSP get the green light then the overall site space will double in the next decade and employee numbers will rise by 200 percent from current levels of around 1,800 to create a hub which can sustain more than 5,500 Manchester Jobs.

Outlining the ambitions of the MSP redevelopment proposals, Manchester City Council’s Draft Regeneration Framework Report states:

“The Masterplan proposals are intended to help drive forward the City’s competitive offer as a principal destination for inward investment and employment in key growth sectors and contribute substantially to the further expansion and diversification of its economic base in a manner that can be fully aligned with its Manchester City economic development, sustainability and regeneration objectives for the wider benefit of residents across Manchester.”

The future redevelopment plans of MSP will now be put in front of a public consultation and phase one could start as early as this summer, providing up to 500 Manchester jobs before the end of 2015.
