Marston’s To Serve Up 1,000 New Bar Jobs

30 Nov 2011

Marston’s To Serve Up 1,000 New Bar Jobs Marston’s, the Midlands pub retailing business, has announced plans to open 25 pubs over the next year, creating 1,000 new full and part time bar jobs in the process.

The company currently runs around 2,150 bars and pubs around the United Kingdom. Over 1,650 of the businesses are leased or tenanted pubs and the remaining 500 are managed pubs.

The company also runs 5 breweries in England: Banks’s Brewery in Wolverhampton, Marston's Brewery in Burton upon Trent, Jennings Brewery in the Lake District, Ringwood Brewery in Hampshire and the Wychwood Brewery in Oxfordshire.

Marston’s has already opened 19 new pubs so far this year, but adding a further 25 pubs in a continuing expansion plan will allow the company to create around 1,000 new bar jobs for students, young people and other jobseekers.

Speaking of how the new jobs would be particularly suited to young people, Marston’s chief executive, Ralph Findlay, said: “This sector is one in part that can offer flexible employment - and to young people – which is where we are really suffering in terms of unemployment.”
