Energy Economist Summer InternshipJob DescriptionWe have opportunities for driven and ambitious students looking to gain practical experience in one of our diverse and innovative teams.Our summer placement programme is for eight to 12 weeks during your summer break from university.Our company operates in a wide range of sectors, providing a unique chance for you to engage in projects that align with your academic interests and career goals.You’ll be working with graduates, experienced professionals, and other students so placement with us is the perfect opportunity to learn from a variety of people while understanding our values and culture. It’s also a great chance to get involved with real projects while gaining relevant experience.In this role you will be working with a multidisciplinary team to deliver consultancy projects within the energy business. This will be a varied role, that may include contributing to energy strategies for individual businesses, supporting with techno-economic analysis of potential projects and helping to evaluate investments from energy network companies, among other areas. While our work primarily focuses on energy transmission and distribution networks, the projects we undertake provide exposure learning about renewable generation technologies, low-carbon fuels, energy markets and regulation, and downstream sectors.Candidate SpecificationTo join us for a summer placement you must currently be at university and studying one of the following degree disciplines (or something closely related):Energy Economics / Energy Policy / Energy SystemsEconomicsBusiness StudiesMathematics / Industrial MathematicsOr similar type of analytical degree with a notable quantitative elementWe are looking for students with the following characteristics:An analytical mindset with the ability to combine quantitative and qualitative assessment to answer complex questionsA methodological approach to problem solving.The ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently.Strong verbal communication skills and confidence to liaise with internal colleagues and external clientsExcellent written communication and attention to detail, with strong report writing capabilitiesJob ProfileAbout our summer placementsWe’re looking for highly motivated students who are passionate about learning from our industry experts.
