Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Store Designer to join Team OB in our Support Office.

As a Store Designer at OB you will be responsible for the production of project department drawing packs, including store construction fit out packs, bespoke fixture fabrication drawings and any project associated detailing. In addition, you will be supporting the Head of Store Design with reviewing the existing estate of stores with the aim of updating and optimising all retail space.

You will be working in a fast-paced environment, where you will be a key member of the OB Store Design team, ready to work collaboratively and to contribute your ideas. Exceptionally organised and be able to work across multiple projects at one time, you’ll undertake site visits, site surveys and attending project meetings.

Our Support Office is based in Tolworth, near Chessington, only a 30-minute journey from London Waterloo. We offer hybrid working, which is a split of 3 days in the office, and 2 days home working per week and are open to having conversations about working flexibly.

More about the role …

An OB Store Designer will:

  • Production of full detailed ‘For Construction’ drawing packages ready for statutory bodies, landlords and in-house approvals for tender and construction phases
  • Assist Head of Department in managing department drawing project workloads, coordinating with external agencies, and assisting with the management of team members.
  • Review and audit existing retail estate, conducting site visits and space plan surveying
  • Assist in the design and development of fixtures, fittings, furniture and signage.
  • Research current store construction/fabrication trends, attending all relevant trade shows, pulling together inspiration and ideas for new store design elements.
  • Work with Construction Project Manager and Facilities Team to ensure all Health and Safety requirements are adhered to.
  • Compile full sets of “as built” technical drawings to include technical specification relating to appropriate codes of practice or regulations.
  • Demonstrate experience and knowledge of building regulations and British Standards, either through qualifications or past experience
  • Compile inspirational images notes and drawings in sketch books for future development.
  • Create, implement and maintain an up to date library of all drawing packs, drawing resources, designs, samples and materials
  • Develop a strong commercial awareness and understanding of the OB stock package in relation to shop fit design.
  • Manage the house keeping of sent and received design drawings and photos and associated project documentation.

What we look for:

  • Proven track record of delivery a store design pipeline
  • Solid experience of retail or F&B interior design or architecture
  • Advanced Vectorworks 2D/3D experience - essential.
  • Experience of Sketch up, Adobe suite, Photoshop and preferably Illustrator & InDesign
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Experience in managing your own workload as well as meeting multiple projects deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills at all levels
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated creative thinker
  • Natural problem solver
