Join Our Team as a Freelance Independent End Point Assessor - Early Years Qualification

Are you passionate about assessing and guiding the next generation of Early Years practitioners? We are looking for dedicated individuals to join us as Freelance Independent End Point Assessors, contributing to the success of apprentices completing their Early Years Qualification apprenticeship.

In2Assessments is an approved End Point Assessment Organisation for Apprenticeship Standards,

  • Early Years Practitioner,
  • Early Years Educator &
  • Early Years Lead Practitioner

We are seeking independent End Point Assessors to conduct the assessment activity to decide the competency of the apprentice.

An independent end-point assessor can only undertake end-point assessments of apprentices, with whom they have no conflict of interest.

This means he/she must be independent of the registered apprenticeship training provider at which the apprentice completed their on-programme element and must not have been involved in the on-programme training, assessment, or line management of such apprentices.

Assessments will be conducted onsite, on dates agreed with employers and apprentice to ensure fairness of assessment.

Independent end-point assessors will record and submit the EPA outcomes, with clear justifications for the grading decisions. EPA activities will be quality assured by the Lead IQA appointed by In2Assessments.

Key Activities The independent end-point assessor will:

  • Take part in regular training and standardisation activities, associated with the role of independent end-point assessor for the Standards approved as an IEPAs.
  • Maintain and provide evidence of ongoing, relevant Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
  • Assess the performance of apprentices in accordance with published Assessment Plan for the Apprenticeship Standards including grading to ensure safe, fair, and reliable assessments are conducted.
  • Follow the protocols set out by In2assessments specifications, assessment materials and quality assurance, relating to the EPAs.
  • Support In2assessments to maintain service-level agreements with regards to responding to EPA planning, operational activities, reports, and submissions of assessment outcomes.
  • Report all risks and issues encountered during the end-point assessment to the EPA Manager or Responsible Officer, including any suspected malpractice/maladministration.
  • Ensure all EPA reports and assessment evidence are of a high quality and recorded accurately.
  • Support the EPA Manager and/or Internal Quality Assurer, if necessary, with any appeals from apprentices, regarding assessment decisions
  • Raise any conflicts of interest, including in relation to the independence of assessment.
  • Contribute to the external quality assurance activities undertaken by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education and Ofqual.
  • Support In2assessments for opportunities to increase the variety of End Point Assessments opportunities to expand in the sector.

Essential Background and Experience

  • Evidence of assessing competence, against nationally accredited standard to at least Level 5.
  • To hold an assessor qualification (e.g. D32/33, A1, TAQA etc.)
  • Experience of using a diverse range of assessment methods and evidence
  • Detailed knowledge of Apprenticeship Standards and assessment plan for Early Years Educator Level 3 and Early Years Lead Practitioner Level 5
  • Evidence of commitment to maintaining CPD, in line centre policy and requirements of the Apprenticeship Standards.
  • Experience of complying with quality assurance/regulatory requirements
  • Hold a recent DSB check and undertaken Safeguarding Training applicable to the role.

Desirable Background and Experience

  • To hold, or be working towards an internal quality assurance qualification (D34, V1, TAQA)
  • Knowledge and experience of Safeguarding & Prevent

Essential Skills & Knowledge:

  • Ability to understand and respond to the individual needs and circumstances of employers & apprentices.
  • Sufficient and relevant technical knowledge of Early Years practice and theories as reflected in the Apprenticeship Standards.
  • Ability to assess, free from bias.
  • Ability to assess and report risks.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.

Behavioural competencies:

  • Able to work effectively and independently and within a remote team.
  • Able to work with own initiative and with minimal direction.
