Part Time Job And Holiday Job News

Over 1,000 full or part time Essex jobs could be created with the £160 million expansion of the Lakeside Shopping Centre in West Thurrock.

Capital Shopping Centres, the owners of the Lakeside Shopping Centre, are looking to expand the complex and also have plans for the Braehead centre in Glasgow and the Victoria Centre in Nottingham, which they also own.

In total, the expansion of the three shopping centres could add around 4,500 full or part time jobs to the UK economy. The ambitious expansion plans at the three locations will cost Capital Shopping Centres in the region of £600 million.

If the Essex extension gets planning permission then Capital Shopping Centres are hoping that the completed project could provide new full or part time Essex jobs for as many as 1,500 people.

Conservative MP for Thurrock, Jackie Doyle-Price, said of the new Essex jobs: “This is great news. Expansion at Lakeside underlines its status as a major retail hub and I welcome the investment and the jobs that will flow from it.”
