google rates as one of the top graduate employers
06-Jun-2007

Google rates as one of the top graduate employers Internet giant Google has been voted as one of the most eligible graduate employers to work for after finishing higher education, according to a new survey.

The Universum UK Graduate Survey 2007 polled 7,500 final and penultimate-year students across a range of degrees on their most desired employer after graduating.

Google came in at sixth choice for engineering, science, IT and business undergraduates and eighth for humanities students - it is the first time the technology company has been included in the list of graduate employers.

A Universum spokesman told the Guardian: "In previous years Google was not thought of as an employer of graduates. But now it is spreading its wings and recruiting in Europe, it's being voted in by a lot of students in all different sectors."

Accountancy firm PricewaterhouseCoopers was voted as the preferred employer for business graduates.

The BBC nabbed top spot for humanities, IT, science and engineering graduates.

Google has gone from strength to strength as a graduate employer over the last few years as it seeks out the top IT students to push forward its global brand.

The company was the brainchild of Larry Page and Sergey Brin, who formed Google during their time as students at Stanford University.
