Business Park Extension Creating 800 New Full & Part Time Jobs In Derbyshire

An extension to an existing business park in Markham Vale could create up to 800 new full and part time jobs in Derbyshire.

The Markham Vale business park, very close to the M1 motorway, has been granted permission for an extension of more than 730,000 square feet, in a move that will generate hundreds of new jobs for students and locals in the area.

The plans also include community facilities such as convenience stores, retail outlets, health centres and over 600 new homes for the region. The development will be overlooked by Devonshire Property Group and commercial developer HBD.

The Markham Vale business park, which opened in 2006, already provides jobs for around 2,700 people but the extension will increase the headcount at the site by almost 30 per cent.

Announcing the new jobs in Markham Vale, Devonshire Property Group’s property development director, Andrew Byrne, said: “We are delighted that the planning committee has approved these exciting projects. They will bring hundreds of much needed new jobs and homes to the area.”

“And, just as importantly, throughout their development we are taking a considered and sensitive approach to improving environmental standards and to the provision of training and skills.”

“The extension to the business park at Markham Vale is expected to create up to 800 new jobs for local people at what is a very successful development already supporting 2,700 jobs in a variety of sectors,” added Mr Byrne.
