Get Further Issues Call for Tutors in Lincoln, Carlisle & Durham

If you are a student or a recent graduate looking for a rewarding way to boost your CV while making a tangible difference, a unique opportunity has just opened up for you!

Get Further, a charity dedicated to helping young people reach their potential, has issued a call for tutors to support students in Lincoln, Carlisle and Durham.

The charity is specifically looking for individuals to help young students get to grips with Maths and English; two subjects that are essential for unlocking future career paths and further education opportunities.

A Chance to Travel and Teach

Perhaps the most exciting part of this recruitment drive is the flexibility it offers. While the focus is on Lincoln, Carlisle and Durham, you don’t necessarily need to be a local resident to get involved. Recognising that talented tutors are needed across the country, Get Further is offering travel and accommodation options for people who live further away.

This makes it an ideal ‘working getaway’ for students during the holidays or for graduates looking to explore a new part of the UK while earning money and building professional skills.

Whether you fancy spending time in the historic streets of Durham or the vibrant cathedral city of Lincoln, the support is there to get you where you need to be.

Breaking into Education: No Experience Required

One of the biggest hurdles for young people entering the job market is the ‘experience required’ barrier. Get Further is removing that obstacle.

They are looking for people with the right knowledge and passion, rather than a comprehensive teaching history.

Successful applicants will receive full training and comprehensive resources, including two days of paid training with subject specialists.

You will be provided with workbooks and a fully-resourced curriculum, meaning you can focus on what matters most: engaging with students and helping them succeed, without the stress of extensive lesson planning.

What are the Requirements?

To ensure students receive high-quality support, there are a few specific requirements you’ll need to meet:

  • You must be 18 years or older
  • Obtained a 2:2 or above or currently working towards completing your degree in a related subject to English or Maths
  • You should have a passion for tackling educational inequality and the communication skills to engage young learners

Why Join the Mission?

By tutoring with Get Further, you aren’t just helping someone pass an exam; you are helping them unlock the doors to their next steps in life - whether that’s an apprenticeship, a university place or something completely different.

It is a chance to join a vibrant community dedicated to educational excellence and to develop transferable skills like public speaking, mentorship and relationship management.

Refer a Friend and Earn

If this role isn't quite right for you, but you know someone who would be perfect, there is also an added incentive. Get Further is currently running a limited-time referral offer. If you refer a friend who successfully becomes a tutor, you’ll receive a voucher as a thank you!
