German supermarket chain Aldi has announced plans to recruit close to 3,000 seasonal staff for the Christmas holidays in 2022.

A range of vacancies are up for grabs across the retailer’s operations in the United Kingdom, with some permanent positions on offer alongside the temporary seasonal vacancies.

Aldi is now the UK’s 4th biggest supermarket and says it will be paying at least £10.50 per hour outside of London - and up to £11.95 an hour in the capital - as the company gears up for one of its busiest periods of trade ever.

The grocery chain is looking for around 2,000 seasonal staff to work in its supermarkets over the festive period, along with a further 850 new recruits to help expedite orders in their regional distribution centres dotted around more than 10 locations around the UK .

In addition to the Christmas jobs on offer at supermarket stores across the UK, Aldi will also be trying to fill warehouse vacancies, logistical jobs and driving roles before the end of the year.

Launching the record festive hiring spree this year, Aldi UK’s director of recruitment, Kelly Stokes, said: “This year we’re recruiting more people than ever over the Christmas period to support the growing number of customers that are switching to Aldi. That includes a mix of temporary and permanent positions, as well as looking to fill both in-store roles and positions at our regional distribution centres.”

“Our amazing colleagues play a vital role in keeping our shelves stocked year-round which is why, once again, we’ll also be keeping our stores closed on Boxing Day as a thank you for all of their hard work,” added Ms Stokes.
