Student finance challenge launched

03 Sep 2007

Student finance challenge launched Students looking for brownie points in the world of finance may want to consider taking part in the latest investment initiative.

eFinancialCareers.com has recently launched The Investment Challenge, sponsored by energy trading company RWE Trading.

Starting today, the challenge is open to all university and business school students in Europe and may be just the sort of extra experience that employers in the financial sector are looking for.

Participants are given a £10 million 'fantasy fund' - and throughout the month they can then invest this 'money' in the markets through equity trading.

The top 20 traders will then be invited to visit RWE Trading to experience a 'day in the life' of a trader.

Students can register to be part of the competition up until September 17th.

With the recent market volatility, those contemplating a career in the financial sector would be well advised to get ahead of the game.

Experts recently warned that as a result of last month's market wobbles, thousands of UK job cuts could be on the horizon.

Careers in the City of London traditionally command high salaries, but can be insecure because many are linked to the success or failure of stocks and shares and other investments.
