Courier firm Hermes UK is creating 100 new full time warehouse jobs in Bolton.

The 100 vacancies will be at a brand new distribution hub on Great Bank Road in the Westhoughton area of North West’s Bolton as the firm continues to expand.

The new warehouse, set to cover an area of more than 7,200 square metres, should be ready for operation before the end of January and could potentially expedite over 200,000 parcels per day.

Hermes UK has seen its business model expand due to a variety of factors, but the growth has been led in large part by an explosion of consumers ordering online from home during the pandemic.

Speaking at the launch of the recruitment drive, the Depot General Manager for Hermes UK, Phil Howard, said: “We are all very excited here at Bolton to be moving into our new home. It shows the faith the business has in Team Bolton to deliver a world class service from this world class facility.”

“We are all very grateful for this opportunity and would just like to say a big thank you to everyone who has helped make this happen,” added Mr Howard.

Westhoughton South Councillor Chris Hill, said: “I believe the jobs that the company will bring in is fantastic, and I’ve heard that Hermes is pretty active in the communities that they set up in, so hopefully they will become an asset to this community.”

Councillor David Wilkinson, also of Westhoughton South, also commented, sayin: “We welcome the new jobs on the former Bernstein’s site, which was derelict for many years.”
