Lidl Creating 4,000 More Supermarket Jobs In The UK

German grocery chain Aldi has announced plans to create 4,000 new supermarket jobs across the UK.

The company says it is heading off an expansion drive to push through the 1,000 store threshold before the end of 2023 - and a further 100 supermarkets in the following two years - generating thousands of new jobs in lots of new and existing locations in England, Scotland and Wales.

Lidl currently provides jobs for around 25,000 people in the UK, but the recruitment drive over the next three years will see the supermarket chain increase its headcount by more than 15 per cent.

Launching the staggered recruitment drive for thousands of new staff, Christian Härtnagel, the chief executive of Lidl GB, said:“We will continue to bring our offer of great quality products at unbeatable value to even more communities across the country. I am also looking forward to welcoming even more colleagues to the Lidl GB team.”

“Our new store target today marks a significant investment for the business. We remain committed to our bricks and mortar strategy and maintaining our store opening pace; roughly a store a week for the next four years.”

“We delivered an impressive trading performance in the period which was supported by our continued investment in new and existing stores, product innovation and our people. All of this contributed to growth in our revenue and profits and positions us well for further growth in the years to come,” added Mr Härtnagel.
