A new development in Doncaster could create up to 3,500 full and part time jobs in Yorkshire according to potential developers Blue Anchor Leisure.

The proposed site, called West Moor Park East and located in the Armthorpe area near to the M18, spans almost 800 square metres and is awaiting the green light from Doncaster Council in March.

Explaining why the council should back the plans, Blue Anchor Leisure say they have already had ‘major interest’ from potential tenants at the Yorkshire development and that the development could create thousands of ‘high value’ industrial jobs for the area.

One of the directors of Blue Anchor Leisure, Jonathan Moses, said that work at the West Moor Park East site could get underway within the next year and that the development could be fully up and running before the end of 2024.

“We firmly believe that this site will drive economic development in Doncaster and will create well paid jobs for local people and so should be in the Local Plan. Coming from Doncaster, I want to bring back manufacturing jobs and businesses to the area, building on its rich industrial heritage,” said Mr Moses.

“Unlike other sites earmarked for allocation, West Moor Park East will focus on high end industrial jobs, rather than limited amounts of logistic jobs. We hope the Council grasps the opportunity and allocates this, along with the other sites, to increase the range and choice of employment opportunities in the area, which will help Doncaster thrive in future years,” added Mr Moses.
