Sandwich chain Subway has announced an expansion drive which will see the franchise create over 250 new full and part time jobs across the South West of England.

The new jobs in Cornwall, Devon and Dorset will be created over the next five years as Subway looks to add over 120 new outlets in the region.

Twelve of the new stores are set to open before the end of this year, creating around 120 jobs in the next nine months alone. A further 150 jobs will follow across the South West as Subway looks to increase its store total to more than 200 branches in Cornwall, Devon and Dorset before the end of 2022.

Commenting on the franchisor's expansion and recruitment drive in the region, Subway’s South West Regional Development Agent, Kevin Graham, said: “We have exciting plans to grow the Subway brand across Dorset, Devon and Cornwall this year. To succeed, we need the right people, with the right blend of teamwork, leadership and work ethic to become new franchisees and help us to deliver our ambitious growth target.”

“Location is also key. We’re constantly seeking new opportunities in new locations across the region, from high streets to retail parks, and non-traditional locations, such as petrol forecourts and convenience stores,” added Mr Graham.

Nationwide, Subway forecasts that it will create 5,000 UK jobs over the next three years as it opens 3,000 new stores before the end of 2020. Worldwide the franchise has more than 40,000 outlets and shows no sign of slowing down its expansion rate.

Subway’s marketing director for the UK and Ireland, Sacha Clark, said: “The growth expansion has been continual. What we have achieved over the last few years has been phenomenal for the brand.”
