Sky Announces 400 New Tech Jobs In Leeds

Sky has announced that it will be creating 400 new jobs in Leeds as it builds up its technology workforce in the Yorkshire city.

The broadcasting & telecoms company will open a new technology centre at Allied London’s Leeds Dock before the end of 2015, creating hundreds of new digital jobs in Leeds before the end of this year.

The news follows quickly on from the announcement of 400 new Sky jobs in Newcastle, Stockport and Scotland earlier this month.

Sky already provides jobs for around 600 people in Leeds, so the new recruits, to be based at Sky@Leeds Dock, will take their staff levels in the city to over 1,000 employees by the end of 2015.

Commenting on the new centre, head of technology for Sky@Leeds Dock, Matt Grest, said: “The creation of Sky@Leeds Dock is a major commitment to our technology business, and to the city of Leeds. We are creating one of the largest digital communities in the UK, offering people in the north of England a unique opportunity to help shape Sky’s award-winning digital products, reaching millions of Sky customers around the UK. Leeds is thriving, with a burgeoning technology sector, and we’re confident our new hub can make a huge contribution to the city.”
