A new Debenhams store in the East Riding of Yorkshire is set to create around 100 full and part time retail jobs in Beverley when it opens its doors at Flemingate in October.

Recruitment for the 100 new Beverley vacancies will get under way in just over a week’s time, so any students in Hull or Beverley who are interested in the roles should start making enquiries right away.

The new Debenhams will be joining the likes of other retailers like H&M, Outfit and Wilkinson as well as eateries such as Zizzi restaurant and leisure facilities including the six screen Parkway cinema.

Emma Doherty, manager of the new store, who has previously been in charge of Debenhams stores in Harrogate and Sheffield commented on the development, saying:

“Debenhams will be the biggest shop within the Flemingate development. Debenhams will be adding something different to the town's retail offer. The Flemingate development is very impressive. I think the Debenhams store will draw shoppers here. We will be offering customers an extensive shopping experience with access to some of our top designer brands, such as Julien Macdonald, Jasper Conran and Betty Jackson, to name a few. We look forward to the next stage of this exciting project...”

Developer Wykeland who is overseeing the refitting of the new store said that over 250 people were currently working on the site in an effort to get it ready for the October deadline.

Head of development for Wykeland, Guy Evans, said: “Flemingate is bringing something new and excellent to Beverley and, with Debenhams new concept store, is going to help attract visitors from throughout the area. Combined with the other stores, the six-screen Parkway cinema, the range of restaurants and cafés and the largest car park in Beverley, Flemingate is going to be one of the region's most appealing retail and leisure destinations.”
