1,000 New Hotel Jobs At Travelodge In 2014

Any students interested in finding full and part time hotel jobs should start looking into new opportunities from Travelodge this year. The budget hotel chain has announced plans to open 15 new hotels during 2014, many of them in major student areas, and will create up to 1,000 full or part time jobs during the expansion this year.

Travelodge will spend an average investment of over £6 million on each new hotel over the course of the next twelve months. Five of the new Travelodge premises will be opened in the capital, generating hundreds of hospitality jobs in London. The other 10 new Travelodge hotels will add further new hotel jobs in Manchester, Southport, Southampton, Harrogate, Christchurch, Chertsey, Egham, Glasgow, Llandudno and at Ryde on the Isle of Wight.

In adding the 15 new hotels to their portfolio, Travelodge will pass through the 500 mark of UK hotels and will have 65 in London alone. By the end of 2014, Travelodge will boast close to 40,000 rooms in the UK.

A typical new Travelodge hotel creates around 60 full or part time positions, so the total £100 million investment by the company in the UK will add around a thousand jobs to the economy by the end of 2014. The full and part time hotel jobs on offer at Travelodge will include a mix of entry level jobs like receptionists, cleaners, customer service staff - as well as creating new management roles at the hotels.

Shedding light on Travelodge’s current strategy of modernisation and expansion, Peter Gowers, chief executive of the hotel chain said:

“During the last year we modernised more than 200 of our hotels across the country and we are on schedule to transform the majority of our portfolio by this autumn. With this further investment in new hotels, we're delighted to be expanding into great new locations where our customers want to go, for both business and leisure. As a result of our ongoing trading and expansion, we'll be recruiting 1,000 people this year, offering a further boost for local economies and creating more opportunities for career development in the growing hospitality industry.”
