150 Sunderland Jobs At New Business Centre

Up to 150 Sunderland jobs could be created at a new business centre on the Turbine Business Park.

The new facility, for business start ups, will cost £6 million and should be up and running before the end of next year.

The business centre will be constructed by Barmston Developments who recently completed the Vantec Europe warehouse at the Turbine Business Park. Vantec also created new positions in the area and expects to create around 230 Sunderland jobs in the next two years.

Developer James Scott said: “Our ability to be back on site so quickly after completing the 422,000 sq ft Vantec warehouse shows how committed we are to delivering at Turbine Business Park.”

Leader of Sunderland City Council, Paul Watson, explained why a facility specifically for business start ups was necessary for the region: “All businesses start somewhere and need a base for their works. This new project is the second major development on the Turbine Business Park as part of the North East Low Carbon Zone.”

Although only 150 new jobs will be created at the site, the completed business centre will provide enough space for over 200 staff, so more jobs could be added at Turbine Business Park further down the line.
