100 New Lotus Car Jobs In Norfolk To Include Graduate Positions

18 new graduate jobs in Norfolk are to be created as Lotus, the car manufacturer, says it will take on over 100 extra staff at its Hethel facility in the county.

After a cash injection of £100 million from Malaysian parent company DRB-Hicom, Lotus is looking for graduates to help it develop new products and take its business forward. In addition to the 18 graduates, the firm is also looking to recruit 40 extra people to its manufacturing team, and a further 45 new specialist engineering recruits.

After a difficult period, the fortunes of Lotus seem to be picking up. UK sales so far this year at Lotus have already outperformed those of last year and bosses are confident about the future, both here and abroad.

Chief Operating Officer for Lotus cars, Aslam Farikullah, spoke of his desire for the manufacturer to be a future leader in the worldwide automotive production sector and confirmed that more models were on the way in the coming years.

“It’s been a period of substantial change at Lotus and we are now in a strong position to expand our work on future products and to increase production in our manufacturing facilities. There has never been a better time to be part of the future of Lotus,” promised Mr Farikullah.

Lotus already employs over 1,100 staff in the United Kingdom, but their Human Resources head, Mark Pym, was happy be bringing more new blood into the company.

“It’s a positive sign for both the UK car industry and Lotus that we are able to recruit such a high number of both experienced specialists and graduates, who will take their first steps on an exciting and rewarding career path,” said Mr Pym.

Councillors in Norfolk welcomed the announcement, with John Fuller describing it as a ‘new dawn’ and George Nobbs saying the skilled jobs which will be on offer for graduates are exactly what Norfolk needs.
