French customer services firm Teleperformance is set to create up to 600 new Scottish jobs this year as it expands its operations and takes on new business.

The majority of the new contact centre positions will be Glasgow Jobs and the company hopes to move more staff from part time jobs to full time positions over the coming months.

Teleperformance originally forecast 500 new jobs for its Scotland operations this year, but an increase in business now means the firm will advertise over 100 more positions, taking its headcount in the country from 3,500 to over 4,000 by the end of 2013.

Speaking with optimism about the future of his business in Scotland, Alistair Niederer, the company’s owner, said: “Things are going really well. Glasgow is where we will grow the most. We have got a full business in Erskine, Kilmarnock and Airdrie, so the expansion would be in our Cadogan Square site or nearby. We will have over 4000 staff in Scotland by the end of the year and it will increase probably by about 600.”

Teleperformance is currently in talks with companies from various sectors including telecoms, technology, energy and retail. The company expects to win a number of new contracts in the next few months, which it hopes will grow its business by up to 20 per cent in the current financial period.
