28 Jan 2013

7,000 New Healthcare Jobs Touted For Leeds Leeds could become a beating heart of healthcare jobs as 7,000 new jobs are touted for the sector in the next decade and a half. Hopefully the surge will lead to hundreds more graduate jobs in Leeds in the coming years.

Lurene Joseph, Leeds and Partners’ chief exec, is heading the marketing drive for healthcare jobs in the city and believes that numbers can be boosted from the current estimate of 3,000 to over treble that size.

Ms Joseph says that strong links and connections within the city paired with the strong medical technology in Leeds can boost innovation and create thousands of new jobs for graduates, healthcare professionals and other people interested in working in the sector.

The deputy vice chancellor of Leeds University, Professor John Fisher, said it was important for the universities, the health service and the private sector in Leeds to work together to advance the healthcare sector in the city and create new jobs.

“That’s really important, not just to improve the healthcare in the UK, but to address the global markets because it’s that whole supply chain of manufacturing innovation with evidence at the end that will generate inward investment,” said Professor Fisher.
